Did you know the smell of freshly cut grass is a plant distress signal?
The smell of grass when it's cut is an odour caused by release of compounds called "green leaf volatiles" (GLVs).
It is released in response to injury and is thought to warn nearby plants of potential danger.
Yup, that is nature's way of communicating.
